Jenny Kangasvuo (b. 1975) is a writer and cultural anthro- pologist who lives in Oulu. Her literary production draws on speculative genres of fiction and is characterized by a slightly different view
of reality. In Kangasvuo’s works, water-nymphs from the Kalevala, space explorers, and ancient sages live their daily lives. Her short stories have won the fandom-voted Atorox award twice, in 2006 and 2018.
Kangasvuo’s first novel Sudenveri was about a pack of werewolves in contemporary Finland and won the Kuvastaja award, which is awarded to the best fantasy novel of the year. Her second novel Hiukset takussa was published in spring 2023. Currently she is working on a collection of fantastical short stories, to be published in spring 2024.
